Description

To reach the Ravensdale Cemetery, start from the intersection of Highway 169 and Highway 516 (Kent- Kangley Road) and head east on Highway 516 (Kent-Kangley Road) 1.7 miles. Turn right onto 268th Ave SE. Go one quarter mile down 268th Ave SE and turn right onto SE 273rd Pl. On the right hand side, after the first house, you'll see a treed area. If you pull off there you'll see a grass trail that leads into the trees. Follow this back a little ways into the trees and you'll see a sign for the cemetery up on your right side on a little knoll before you reach a wooden fence for the next street. The cemetery is located in a newer subdivision of homes and can be hard to find if you're not sure where it's at. It is fenced with a barbed wire fence and doesn't appear to be accessible to walk thru. It is very overgrown with brush. Some research shows that there are no known records of exactly whom may be buried in this cemetery but it's possible some of the miners who were killed in a blast at a nearby mine many years in the past may be some of those buried here. The stones that were visible are not legible. A couple stones appear to be broken and/or fallen down, possibly knocked over and one crypt appears to have the top missing. A couple of articles about the cemetery indicate that this cemetery may have been vandalized in the past.
