Ensemble religieux de Saint-Paul-d'Abbotsford

Saint-Paul-d'Abbotsford, Rouville, Quebec, Canada, North America

Description

As far as I can tell, there are two churches with 2 cemeteries here. They refer to this as a \"Religious Complex\".\n\nhttp://www.patrimoine-culturel.gouv.qc.ca/rpcq/detail.do?methode=consulter&id=93298&type=bien#.WJ3aV_mLRhE\n\nTranslation: The religious complex of Saint-Paul-d\'Abbotsford is made up of buildings and landscaped elements dating from the nineteenth century. It includes St. Paul\'s Anglican Church, its cemetery, parsonage and presbytery, as well as Abbotsford\'s United Church (built by congregationalists), its cemetery and its stone wall. Elegantly simple, the buildings have a rectangular plan and are roofed with two straight slopes. With the exception of the presbytery, which is made of stone, they are all clad in white painted boards. Surrounded by orchards, farmland and farms, the complex is located on Mount Yamaska, in a picturesque environment marked by the presence of the Montérégie hills. It extends northwest of the village core of the municipality of Saint-Paul-d\'Abbotsford.\n\nThis property is classified as a heritage site. Protection also applies to lands, with circumstances and dependencies, as well as to the segment of the Mountain range which separates the properties of the two denominations.\n\nThe St. Paul\'s Anglican church contains a Warren organ-harmonium (installed in 1873) classified as a heritage object.
